About Nuke Globe
Nuke Globe is a free educational nuclear strike simulator. You pick a launch city, a target and a warhead, and the globe shows the flight, the blast rings, the fire zone and the fallout, with an estimate of the casualties. The blast and heat radii use the public scaling laws from Glasstone and Dolan's The Effects of Nuclear Weapons, and the casualty figures come from a simple population model for each city. They are estimates for learning, not predictions.
The articles explain the history and the physics behind the numbers, starting with what happened in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Questions or corrections are welcome at pgmetastudios@gmail.com.
